President Saleh's political advisor Abdu Al-Karim Al-Eryani assured that Yemen will face harder challenges over the next three years in case there is no political rescue, hinting these challengers are bigger than Houthi rebellion in Sa'ada and secessionist tendencies in the southern provinces. Al-Eryani pointed out that shortage of resources together with the inordinate growth of population put at 3 percent together with Yemen's tough geographic structure with remote and inaccessible areas. New Zealandian water expert Ramon Scoble told Reuters correspondent that rainfall upon which Yemeni farmers depend for agriculture is just enough to cover for the needs of 2 million and not 20 million souls. "I don't believe there is another nation in the world...that is this close to a population-cum-resources catastrophe," said Scoble who works for German development agency GTZ in Yemen.
