Saudi border guards at Hattab Center in Jazan area managed to arrest four Yemeni weapon smugglers who were carrying guns, weapons and ammunitions.

The smugglers were carrying the weapons on their shoulders as border guards also seized 8,700 bullets of which 6,700 were for Kalashnikov guns, while another 2,000 were pistol bullets. They also found a gun.

These measures come within the Saudi authorities' attempts to ban arms bought by Saudi citizens at high prices and this causes Yemenis to smuggle them.

Saudi Arabia also suffers from smuggling through Yemeni lands and the list of smuggled materials includes weapons, drugs, dynamites, etc. The increased quantities of seized weapons and drugs shocked Saudi authorities and caused them to impose strict monitoring at the Yemeni-Saudi bordering areas.

Similarly, Saudi border guards seized 100 bottles of wine as some infiltrators were trying to smuggle them into Saudi lands through the mountainous bordering areas.

Further, big quantities of drugs are smuggled from the Horn of Africa through Yemen to Saudi Arabia and other Gulf countries considered being major consumers in the Middle East.
