For over three years, the Yemeni government has been very careful in avoiding any hand contact with protesters and demonstrators. This was seen as a human rights success and a matter in which all Yemeni's were proud of.

Unfortunately, this week the good reputation of the security forces took a big step backwards as protesters who were gathered in front of Aljazeera News Station Head Office in the capital Sana'a were treated with harshness and disrespect. Ten protesters were taken into custody due to raising their voice demanding that they get their rights.

Before this incident the government treated protesters in Thal'ee and Aden governorates ruthlessly which caused nationwide protest that continue to today. We should learn a lesson from history that nothing is achieved by force, while with wisdom and negotiation nations are built and kept.

A modern day example is what is happening today in Pakistan. President Musharraf announced that Pakistan is in a state of emergency hoping that it would calm the matter. However, since then over 2000 citizens have been taken to jail and the country is in complete chaos.

God forbid that Yemen turns out in the same way, but medicine teaches us to stop the spread of poison before in spreads throughout the body.

Learn from examples of other nations. This will be the key to a successful, prosperous and unified Yemen.
