In his speech made at Al-Husseinia Annual Festival for Camels and Horsemanship, President Saleh harshly attacked opposition parties and demanded them to be the other face for the ruling system, stressing they should submit proposals and programs for change. Saleh hinted as well that it is difficult nowadays to have wheat flour at 1985 or 1990 prices and stressed the situation will be worse than now in case those who consider themselves to be alternatives ascend to power, noting a sack of wheat whose price is YR 7,000 will be sold against 20,000 under their rule. He added those who speak about things know nothing about state policy and warned against terrorism, assuring this could turn Yemen to another Somalia, Iraq or even Afghanistan. He also maintained that it is impossible to return back to secessionist past or positional and sectarian difference. "Our slogan is either unity or death! Either you like it or drink from Red or Arab Seas," warned Saleh who added "There are disharmonious voices who are incapable to solve their problems." Moreover, Saleh urged Yemeni people to rid of past complexes and fomenting seditions and stressed that democracy is good and people have to safeguard it. He called Gulf countries to take part in the festival activities which has become an annual tradition.
