  Pension Age Set at 60 and Working Woman to Have more Rights

Yemeni Parliament approved amending the law numbered 25 of 1991 concerning the insurances as obligatorily put pension age at 60 and while the pension age for women was optionally fixed for 55.

The amendments allow the husband to have both his pension and his wife; however, it did not allow him to have more than one in case he is married to more than one wife and he has the right to select which pension to have with his.

The new also stated the insurances should be that of 15 months in order for a public servant or private sector employee to ask for compensations and indicated the a pregnant working woman should have a paid birth leave of not less than 70 days. It also gives more 20 days for cases of difficult birth or when giving birth to a twin.

Moreover, the new law bans sending a woman away from her job while she is in birth leave and also demanded the employer to provide a place for women where they can pray.

It also stressed the importance of protecting the pregnant woman against any risks and demanded employees to exercise utmost care to save working woman from noise, low or atmospheric pressure, and harmful rays, etc.

As for marriage leave, the law grants a working man or woman the right to have a paid one-month leave conditioning the marriage to be the first and not to be included in his/her annual leave.
