Food that is supposed to be for the poor is being sold in markets. The Yemen Post investigated this case in a large number of wholesale stores in the capital to see how many sell products that are supposed to be donated to the poor free of charge by Al-Saleh Charitable Foundation. As a result, dozens of food products were being sold in a number of wholesale stores in the capital Sana’a. According to one wholesale dealer he bought the products from a major wholesale dealer in Sh’aoob district of the capital, and cheaper than the normal price. The source also clarified that the major wholesaler had large quantities; however, he only bought a small number, fearing that locals will not respect him if they notice charity products being sold in large quantities. “In the end, it is not my fault. I buy it with my own money, but it is the fault of those people who did not reach the food to the hands of the poor,” said one store owner who preferred to stay anonymous. The Yemen Post contacted Al-Saleh Charitable Foundation to comment on the matter, however, they were not available for comment.
