Hadramout Governor Taha Hajar told media that only one soldier was killed and seven others injured when unknown people attacked two security checkpoints in the province. The first attack targeted a checking point close to Al-Qatan district, to the west of Sayun city, some 1000 km to the east of the capital Sana'a and caused material losses according to local sources. A similar and simultaneous attack using RPG shells targeted a check point near Al-Hajreen, leaving behind a soldier killed and another seven injured. Sources did not rule out that Al-Qaeda Organization in Yemen is behind the incident that targeted the two security checkpoints especially after security and military forces tightened their measures on all roads leading in and out of the province in an effort to prevent any potential attacks. Official media mentioned that drug dealers could be blamed for the incident as similar attacks took place in the past, especially when the tightened security measures in the provinces prevented them from moving freely there.
