In their meeting presided by Minister of Education Abdul Salam Al-Joufi and Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Saleh Basurah, the Committee of Faculties of Education in Yemeni universities approved canceling parallel education in the faculties except with foreign students.

This move aims at benefiting from the potentials of the teaching staff in these faculties and helps upgrade the level of graduating students. The participants also approved unifying the curricula of faculties nationwide. They as well endorsed issuing an education magazine to help publish education researches.

The new plan dictates that students should join science or arts colleges and to do a one-year diploma for those wishing to teach or specialize in teaching and later they are trained in schools under the direct collaboration of the Ministry of Education.

In related news, Sana'a University's Employees Syndicate called for an open set-in to be staged tomorrow in Freedom Square located in front of the Cabinet building in Al-Tahrir area.

The employees will stage the sit-in to protest not granting them their rights and allowances as is the case with teachers.

Media sources indicated that security forces released four students affiliated with Aden University's Faculty of Education who were detained for quite some time over demonstrations demanding releasing the leaders of the South Yemen Movement arrested earlier last week following events in Al-Dhal'e, Lahj and Radfan.
