Charity organizations claiming to work for the benefit of the poor have also witnessed holes in their work, making us believe that corruption could also be witnessed in such fields. It comes in different ways, but to take the food that is supposed to be given to poor families and give it to wholesalers to sell is complete nonsense. This makes us believe that such organizations exist for the wrong reasons and for show, rather than helping the poor. Over the last two months the Yemen Post has passed through and visited a large number of charity organizations to see what kind of work they claim to do, and what work is being done in reality. Yes, there are some organizations that are doing a good job, but a large number of them exist for the wrong purposes. Over 40% of Yemeni citizens live under the poverty line, while those who do work have low salaries that is barely enough to support their family, and that is why to witness organizations taking food and financial help from poor people’s hand, to the hands of wholesalers or businessmen is a complete shame. The poor will only get poorer if such organizations do not do their job, and reach the support to those who need it more. For those who are selling food that is supposed to be given to the poor, my advice is before doing such a criminal action put yourself in their position, and picture a poor and hungry family, and all they have is the little support that organizations are giving them.
