The number of arms seized nationwide has so far reached 105,000 pieces of different kinds and sizes, according to the deputy head of the Ministry of Interior Brig. Mohammed Al-Qusi. Al-Qusi added that over 3,000 pieces were seized inside cities and another 100,000 pieces were seized at the checkpoints located at the entrances of cities and security belt areas. This comes in translation of a law issued last August which bans bearing arms inside the capital and other major cities across the republic and the campaign, according to observers and security experts, has helped decrease crime rates and improve security and stability. To avoid clashes with tribesmen, security authorities have been withholding the arms in checkpoints for those who enter the capital or other major cities until they return back home.
