A source at Yemeni Coastguard Authority, Gulf of Aden Division, told media outlets that Yemeni military ships had conducted joint military exercises with the French military ship Daj. The exercises involved intercepting suspected ships, preventing pirate acts and securing maritime safety in international waters. Daj crew including 31 military personnel left Aden port on Thursday following a visit that lasted a few days. The exercises came after Somali pirates arrested a French Yacht that was released on Friday. According to media sources, three Somali pirates were killed after clashes with airborne French forces. Six pirates were arrested and taken to the French ship. In related news, deputy head of the Chief of Staff Brig. Ali Qasim Taleb took part in the activities of the 3rd conference of American land forces launched last Sunday in America's Atlanta city of Georgia State. The conference discussed the recent technological developments in this field. The visits of high-ranking military delegations to the US have aroused some doubts and accusations by opposition members of parliament, especially those statements of MP Hamid Al-Ahmar.
