Omani police stopped Yemeni trucks, transporting fruit and vegetables from and to Yemen, as they were heading to the United Arab Emirates under the excuse of having extra diesel quantities on their tanks.

Omani authorities fined the truck drivers 300 Riyals (about YR150,000) according to the treaties signed by Yemeni and Omani authorities aiming to stop smuggling across borders.

Yemeni authorities have for long complained of oil smuggling to neighboring countries where a barrel of diesel is sold for what is equal to YR 25,000, while it is sold in Yemen for only YR 7,000.
