The world witnessed a 40 percent decrease in the price of wheat, as poor people around the globe got some breathing room, and a chance to improve their living standard. Unfortunately in Yemen, the price of wheat will not see a decrease in price for at least one month. Even when the price does decrease, the price will not decrease more than 10 percent of what it costs today. Now getting to my point, when the price of wheat increased worldwide by 15 percent earlier this year, it increased in Yemen by over 200 percent, and when the price finally decreased 40 percent, prices in Yemen stay high. Under which math law does this make sense? Officials in Yemen say that the price cannot decrease quickly because wholesale businessmen have booked big deals for wheat sold to them at high prices, therefore, if prices go down, the businessmen will lose great amounts of money. That makes a little sense to me, but I have one question I want to ask. Does the government want the people to benefit or the businessmen? I would feel sorry for the businessmen if they lost large amounts of money, but that is part of the game in business, you don't always win. It all shows that our government has no clear strategy to run the country or to improve the living standard of its people.
