39 Bids for Governors Elections Accepted

According to the supervising committees overseeing the bidding for governor posts, the number of accepted nominations has reached 39 in the capital Sana'a and provinces nationwide.

The general committee of the general People Congress (GPC) approved on its Sunday's meeting presided over by President Saleh the list of party candidates for governors' elections.

According to partisan sources, the selection was based on the reports coming from the GPC branches in the provinces and below are the names with the province:

1- Abdul Rahman Al-Akwa', the capital Sana'a

2- Dr. Adnan Al-Jifri, Aden

3- Hamoud Khalid Al-Soufi, Taiz

4- Muhsen Ali Al-Naqib, Lahj

5- Ahmed Abdullah Al-Hajri, Ibb

6- Ahmed Ahmed Al-Misri, Abyan

7- Nasser Al-Khader Al-Sawadi, Al-Baidha

8- Ali Hasan Al-Ahmadi, Shabwa

9- Ali Mohammed Khudam, Al-Maharah

10- Salim Al-Khanbashi, Hadramout

11- Ahmed Salim Al-Jabli , Al-Hodeidah

12- Yahya Ali Al-Amri, Dhamar

13- Noman Ahmed Duwaid, Sana'a

14- Ahmed Ali Muhsen, Al-Mahweet

15- Farid Ahmed Mujawar, Hajah

16- Hasan Mohammed Mana'a, Sa'ada

17-Fadhel Al-Qusi, Al-Jawf

18- Hussein Ali Hazeb, Mareb

19- Kahlan Abu Shuareb,Amran

20- Ali Qasim Talib, Al-Dhale'

21- Ali Salim Al-Khadimi, Raymah

The announcement of GPC candidates came by the end of the second day devoted to receiving grievance requests as there had been wide dispute over some named candidates, fearing that some of them may not get the required number of votes to run for the post.

Sources close to GPC revealed that the party nominated those who could win and get the votes of voters' bodies in their provinces.
