Where in the world can nearly twenty people be killed or injured in only two hours without a civil war, mafia related, terrorist attack, or a drug related crimes. Couple of days ago, that happened due to revenge killings in Amran governorate between tribes of Thlaima and Osaimat, and 18 people were killed or injured due to revenge killings in less than two hours. The part that I cannot understand is that the government did not allow its forces in interfere and preferred to watch and see how the crisis will end. Hours after clashes finished, the government thought it was safe enough to interfere and solve the crisis. But wasn't it too late! Why would the tribes want the government's help after over a dozen people have already been killed or injured infront of government forces, while they did not try to stop it? Wasn't it the job of the government to solve the crisis before lives were killed, especially when they were near the scene of the killing? If the government wants people to feel secure and stop carrying weapons in cities or even in rural areas, the least it can do is show the people that it will be there to protect them when they need protection, and not watch and hide behind trees. The reason why I say this is because these tribes will get more desperate to avenge the killings of their relatives, making it much more difficult to solve the problem, therefore more killing will occur, and a stronger need and desire to get revenge from the other tribe will be the result. |
