Salam Aunt Noor, Thank you for your explanation which I appreciate very much. For your info, the bad thing I heard about Arab men is that they used to be nice with foreign girls and marry them but once they brought the girls back to their country, they became maids. I feel so scared when I hear this but at the same time I love him and this is hurting me. One more thing, is it true that Yemeni women have no choice only to wear black? If that's so, is it true that if I don’t wear black police will follow me wherever I go? Please correct me if I am wrong. Dear Wan, Think you for your blessings and May God bless you too. I am really happy to hear from you again. Well, about your first question, I have seen many Yemeni men who are married to foreign women but they still respect them a lot. Both of you were raised in different environments and for sure you will have different point of views. Also, I want to explain to you an important concept in our society; it is the norm to see the husband responsible for bringing in the money for all family needs without forcing the wife to help in that. Therefore in return, the wife does all the housework without asking the husband for help and never considers herself a maid. Also, I want you to know that the Arab man still loves to feel that he is the family head and you still have to sort of agree with him if you have different opinions about any issue in the future. About your second question, no, it is not true that women have no choice about wearing black in Yemen. It is the custom to see women wearing black decent cloths when going outdoors, but I want you to understand that we consider it a tradition, especially in cities and don’t get surprised if I tell you that women don’t wear veils in villages. Also, I want to assure you that there is no law that forces you to wear the Abaya or veil here in Yemen and a lot of Yemeni women don’t wear it and wear the head scarf only. Don’t be scared my dear about Yemen. I have never heard about police catching any lady because she is not wearing black. Before I end my advice, I don’t want you to feel that I am encouraging you to marry the man, but in the end, it is your choice and I want you to take your time when taking your final decision. Also, make sure that you are thinking with your mind and not your heart.Good luck To ask Aunt Noor for her Advice , email her at noor@yemenpost.net
