Three workers were buried under the rubble when a two-floor building collapsed on them Saturday. The accident occurred in Sana'a, Hadda area, as workers were cementing the third floor.

Eye witnesses noted that at least seven workers were wounded in the collapse of the building owned by renowned Sa'ada businessman Fares Mana'a.

Security forces hurried to the scene and launched an instant investigation into the circumstances of the incident and primary information indicate that the building fell after the collapse of concrete blocks.

Dozens of Yemeni workers die every year because contractors do not take enough safety and security measures and state authorities does not commit them to abide by security and safety standards. There are no contracts for guaranteeing those workers' rights.

Most workers, including secondary and university graduates, are forced by the deteriorating economic situation to work in such hazardous jobs.
