Following increased commercial frauds in Yemen timed with Ramadan's advent, the Yemeni Society for Consumer Protection (YSCP) called on concerned authorities to act responsibly and prevent any deceiving practices targeting consumers during the Blessed Month of Ramadan.

It called on the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Public Health and Population, the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation and the Authority for Specification Standardization and Quality Control to play their own role and to work for protecting the consumers against commercial fraud and other deceiving practices during Ramadan.

The society further pointed out that increase in world prices of most food commodities started to come down and this gives no excuse to senior importers to adhere to their sky-rocketing prices.

It further demanded the concerned authorities to work for stopping the inordinate price hikes especially of consumptive commodities and asked citizens for rationalizing their consumption as a means for combating monopoly.
