Dozens of teachers from Saber Al-Mawadem district in Taiz staged a sit-in last Saturday before the governorate building in protest against the measures taken by Saber Al-Mawadem education office.

These measures include suspending salaries and transferring teachers to other schools without prior notice.

In a letter directed to the Secretary General of Taiz Local Council, the demonstrating teachers demanded authorities to do them justice and lift the injustice from them and to release their suspended salaries. They also hinted that they are ready for any investigations by the legal affairs department at Taiz's Education Office.

In response, the General Manager of Taiz's Education Office Mahdi Ali Abdul Sallam ordered the education officials in Saber Al-Mawadem to halt any measures of transfer, especially when high instructions state that transfer inside and outside provinces is banned.

He also ordered immediate release of the demonstrating teachers' salaries unless they are suspended for other reasons like absence or other shortfalls.
