Al-Ain Primary Court sentenced a Yemeni expatriate for four years in jail and deportation from the country after Mazeed custom police found 24.8g of Qat in the compartment of his truck.

Mazeed Custom Department issued a report in October 10 stating that they found about 25g of Qat in the truck owned by the Yemeni expatriate Hasan Ali Naser Al-Zaidi.

Gulf and Island Department at Foreign Ministry issued a note to the Yemeni embassy in UAE to follow up Al-Zaidi's case before the concerned authorities there.

Investigation minutes established that Al-Zaidi was not aware of the existence of Qat in his truck and unloading workers at Yemeni customs outlet are responsible for putting that quantity of Qat inside the truck.

Qat, a narcotic substance widely chewed by Yemenis and some Saudi areas bordering Yemen, is prohibited in Gulf countries and considered to be among drugs.
