The Studies and Economic Media Centre has declared that it would form in collaboration with the National Democratic Institute and the Supreme National Anti-Corruption Commission public committees throughout all Yemeni governorates in order to spread awareness about corruption issues.

Chairman of the SEMC, Mustfa Nasar said that these committees would be trained to receive information about corruption cases, list them and inform the concerned authorities about.

Mustafa further affirmed the project aims to train young leaders who can efficiently spread awareness about combating corruption.

The NDI-funded project will train groups in the Maeen district in Sana'a and the Sharab Al-Rawna in Taiz to be as a model which could be applied to other Yemeni districts regarding corruption cases.

Trainees will be taught skills of conducting awareness campaigns about listing and documenting corruption cases as well as publishing them on media.

SEMC has won a USAID grant through the project of the Supreme National Authority for Combating Corruption aiming at strengthening civil society for combating corruption and enhancing transparency in Yemen.
