Official journalist authorities in Yemen held on Saturday meetings at their headquarters to discuss the recent government plans over implementation of the project of job description.

The meetings called on all journalists to interact actively to put pressure on the government to implement the project this year.

Earlier head of the Yemeni Journalists Syndicate Nasr Taha Mustafa proposed the project be implemented as early as the beginning of 2009.

The meetings also approved holding strikes to begin on Wednesday during which protestors should carry red placards warning of full strike if journalists’ demands are not met.

Moreover, the meetings urged the Ministry of Information and syndicate to continue efforts for the project to take place as soon as possible.

Earlier Mustafa requested a time period of a week to negotiate with the Ministry of Civil Service over approving the project.
