Editor Picture The United States must understand that its strategy in its war against terror has failed in every country it approached, and that spilling blood will not solve problems. The United States has not won a single war against Al-Qaeda while using the policy of killing.

The Poor and Strong Yemen

 Hakim Almasmari

Last week, the government showed all its enemies its military might during the unity celebration. Considered the biggest military showing in Yemen’s history, President Saleh sent a strong message to all those who think separation is possible.
Putting that aside and away from politics, what country doesn’t have an army, tanks and military vehicles?
The government of Yemen has not been able to give its people even the essentials of modern life, like electricity or water. Every day, the electricity turns off for at least 6 hours in the capital Sana’a, and water services have seen a decrease since the beginning of the year.
Power of a country is known by its modernization not by the showing of military men walking together row by row one after the other. People today in Yemen live a life close to that of some poor countries in Africa, even though it is located in one of the richest places on the planet.
Ali Salim Al-Beedth, the former vice president of Yemen, and leader of the south announced last week that southern Yemen must be separated. In my opinion, the reason why he announced that was because he has either gotten too old and is saying things for no reason, or that he was bored in his old home in Oman and wanted more action in his life.
Whatever the reason for him was, President Saleh will help him if he does not stop corruption and give the people the biggest portion of the cake.
Al-Beedth was not all wrong in his speech. One thing he said and was right was that people in the north and south are both living a life of hell and not only the south.
O.K, can he guarantee both sides of the country a better life?
