The Global Alliance for Vaccines approved supporting Yemen concerning the pneumonia vaccine of about 14 million 800 thousand $ starting in 2010.
Public Health and Population Minister, Dr. AbdulKarim Rassaa, said that this approval was included within the coalition budget and the agreement with the board chairman of the vaccines alliance and the executive director.
During the meeting of the Global Alliance for Vaccines Board was held in the city of Rotterdam, Netherlands, the Yemeni delegation, participating on behalf of the Eastern Mediterranean Region and North Africa, put forward a number of proposals and recommendations aimed at activating and developing programs of the alliance, the most important of which is the reduction of the direct intervention of the alliance in the national health policies.
Yemen's proposals included also encouraging the production of vaccines by the states in a position such as China and India to reduce the high cost of medicine prices as well as encouraging and assisting the World Health Organization to accelerate the rehabilitation process of the countries that will enter the new vaccines within its health plans.
