The Yemeni government announced the military operations to be suspended in the north, a move which comes in response to calls of relief organizations to allow in aid for the affected and commitment of the rebels to end destructive acts, offical sources reported.
The suspension was supposed to take place Friday. However, clashes continued even after the ceasefire.
According to Yemen Post sources, at least three people were killed after the announcement of the ceasefire and both sides continued fighting until Saturday morning.
The Houthi rebels, who have been fighting the troops since 2004, are also committed to eliminate landmines, barriers and end sniper attacks.
The continuous of fighting was blamed on Houthi militants. However, Houthi spokesperson said that due to Sa’ada being a mountainous area it was very difficult for Houthi leaders to inform all their followers of the activation of the ceasefire, and as soon as they all knew, all militants abided by the agreement.
