Editor Picture Every Al-Qaeda attack in the south comes with great relief for the government and more pain for those who call for separation. The government gains even more financial support from the international community as it is funding Yemen’s fight against extremism.

Update 4: Yemeni Tribesmen Refuse to Release the Japanese Engineer; Official misleading information about his release

According to sources close to the Japanese engineer who preferred to be anonymous, the kidnappers didn’t release the Japanese engineer yet.
“There were conflicting reports about the release of the Japanese engineer kidnapped in Arhab and I confirm that tribal mediation did not succeed so far in the release of the kidnapped Japanese”, the source said.

The source accused the official sources of lying and misleading the public and carries the Yemeni government any consequences resulting from these false statements.
Few hours ago, official and tribal sources announced the success of tribal mediation to release of the Japanese Engineer
Arhab tribesmen abducted the Japanese engineer, Tak Yu Himua, 63 years, to pressure the Yemeni government to release a member of the tribe who belongs to Al-Qaeda and detained in prison four years ago. Hussein Abdullah Hussein fought with Al-Qaeda for two years in Iraq and settled in Syria for a year and another year in Lebanon. He was arrested on his return from Iraq 4 years ago. The prisoner belongs to Zendan district- Arhab tribe.
Yemen Post exclusively met with Arhab tribesmen close to those who kidnapped a Japanese Engineer and was told that the Japanese citizen will not be released until their demands are met.
Member of the Mediation Committee, Sheikh Abdul Jalil Sinan said that negotiations with the kidnappers to release the Japanese Engineer are underway.
The tribesmen once again demanded the government to release their relative from the political security prison, where he has been held for over four years. The tribesmen also assured Yemen Post that he is well and unharmed.
"The Japanese hostage is very well and is being treated like a guest by his kidnappers, who abducted him to put pressure on the authorities," said Sheikh Abdel Jalil Sinan, a Yemeni official and tribesman involved in the negotiations.
"The mediators gave a written statement to the abductors on Monday night telling them they will try to get their demands fulfilled in collaboration with the Sana’a governor who has promised to free the detainee in exchange for the Japanese hostage," Sheikh Sinan said.
"The Japanese engineer could be freed in the next 24 hours if we succeed to convince the abductors that their relative will be freed soon when they let go of the hostage."
Sources informed Yemen Post that the Japanese Engineer works for the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) northeast of the capital Sanaa. Yemen Post visited JICA, however, JICA representatives refused to give any comment about the employee.
The Japanese is being held in the Arhab district which is located about 35 km northeast of Sanaa.
From Japan, Japanese Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama said earlier in the day that efforts were under way to secure the release of a Japanese engineer kidnapped by tribesmen in Yemen.
According to the Japanese Embassy in Sana'a, the kidnapping incident occurred when the engineer was on a working visit to one of the projects financed by JICA.
The embassy added that negotiations are underway with the kidnappers to release the Japanese architect.
From the Yemeni official side, the Yemeni government claim that they have located where the two, the Japanese including his Yemeni driver, are being held.
Sources claim that the kidnapped is a Tokyo resident and employee of a Tokyo-based consultancy by a source related to the firm.
