Head of the National Security Ali Muhammad Al-Anesi said on Tuesday that Yemen is no longer for any regional dialog and mediation for the six-year-long conflict in the north, saying the Houthi insurgents are exploiting peaceful approaches to become more stubborn.
In a statement to the Al-Hayat Newspaper on the margins of the Manama Dialogue, he said that Yemen has already closed the door before mediation because it has come to nothing useful.
'We can deal with the situation and we must not be afraid of confrontation. Surely, we must support neighboring kingdom of Saudi Arabia and other Gulf States, but as Yemenis the crisis was born and is living with us.'
Al-Anesi criticized the remarks of Iran's Foreign Minister on the situation in the country, confirming Iran supports the Houthi rebels in Saada financially, politically and through the media.
What Manouchehr Mottaki said that the military action was unnecessary, stressing on the need for political dialog to deal with the crisis was gossip, he said.
We wonder how those who refused a dialog with reformists in Iran are now urging others to stick to dialog……they are contradicting themselves, he said.
'The insurgents in Yemen are looters and bandits…they are terrorists and have become addicted to bloodshed; hence dialog with them is unreasonable and because they refused it.'
Why has not Iran condemned the rebellion? If it really has no part in the conflict, she should have condemned the year-long insurgency.
Anyway, an end to the crisis has become very close now, he affirmed, adding their sources and strength are fading; they are losing and will pay for what they have committed for years against the troops and the people.
