A recent study published in some Saudi newspapers has revealed that most of the 100000 child beggars in Saudi Arabia are Yemenis.
The Saudi authorities arrest 3500 Yemen child beggars a month, who are trafficked into the kingdom to work or beg, according to the study conducted by Dr. Muhmmad Al-Ajmi assigned by King Abdul Aziz City for Sciences and Technology.
The main reasons for child begging inside the kingdom included dropping out and child labor.
Yemen security authorities foil many attempts a year to smuggle children to Saudi Arabia for begging or employment.
In 2009, the government said that the trafficking declined compared to 2008, though police continued to thwart child smuggling attempts.
