The ceasefire committee in Harf Sufyan, Amran, suspended on Thursday its works in protest at Houthi violations, saying the Houthi group has never demonstrated seriousness to implementing the ceasefire terms that it agreed to in February.
In a statement, the committee justified the move: we have started to run out of patience amid the position of the Houthi leader and followers who seem don't like peace.
Many of appointments and agreements reached with the group have not been respected, the statement said, noting that the Houthis continue to violate the ceasefire deal. We also refuse the exploitation of the ceasefire and we are now in a stalemate, the statement said.
Since the ceasefire started on February 11, the committees supervising it have many times reported that the Houthis were apathetic, reluctant to demonstrate full commitment to it and violating its main terms. More recently, the group was accused of looting the social security funds in some areas.
The committee also accused the Houthi fighters of refusing to withdraw from their positions in some areas as well as being uncooperative on implementing the rest terms of the ceasefire after many roads have been reopened and landmines eliminated.
