The Interior Ministry said Friday that a human organ trade broker had been arrested in Yemen's capital of Sana'a.
It posted on its website that Almasghari, 26, was arrested inside a hotel in Shoub district after wide investigations and surveillance showed he had been involved in trading in human organs.
Al-Masghari confessed to involvement in the illegal trade, saying he turned to a broker after he sold one of his kidneys at an Egyptian hospital for $ 7000 a year ago, the ministry said.
I have convinced many Yemeni people to trade in their organs in return for commissions, he was quoted as saying.
In recent years, the authorities reported that 200 Yemeni people were trading in their parts, selling some for between $ 5000 to 7000.
