Five soldiers were killed early Thursday morning when armed people attacked a security patrol in Shabwa Province in southeastern Yemen.
A source at the local authority was quoted as saying the five were of the forces at the Ataq Military Zone and that another soldier was injured in an ambush.
The source said it is believed Al-Qaeda was behind the two attacks that came amid a series of violent attacks in recent months targeting security buildings and vehicles in the south.
