Amid local authorities' ignorance, roughly 500 people have been homeless and living without shelter in the open air since Eid Al-Fitr in the Al-Hariqyah village of the Thubab district, Taiz, after storms that associated the monsoon destroyed their homes.
According to local sources quoted by the News Yemen, more than 40 homes were affected, 22 of which were completely destroyed.
Many of the families are experiencing difficult humanitarian situations amid the lack of food, water and other necessary materials, the sources said.
The ignorance of the authorities has drawn criticism as social figures urged to form commissions from the local councils and governorate leadership to provide relief for the affected before the tragedy worsens.
It is worth to note that most of the homes in the area were built of wood and tin and there are also straw houses that can help the disaster to worsen.
