The ruling Party General People's Congress GPC has made known that parliamentary elections will take place on April 27th next year after the failure of dialogue with the main opposition parties, the Joint Meeting Parties JMP, official media reported on Monday.
The dialogue with the JMP has failed so elections will be held on time, Assistant Secretary General of the General People's Congress GPC Sadig Ameen Abu-Ras said, adding "Efforts and solutions were unsuccessful, including forming government of national unity."
He further said the GPC pledged the JMP of forming government of national unity whatever the elections result.
Analysts believe that the GPC and the JMP all have their own ideas and it needs someone who could take the best from all of them to make it work.
"While they don't intend to turn the dialogue into a political game, both sides accused each other of stalling agreement talks to resolve a growing internal political crisis," they added.
