A Five-story building collapsed on Wednesday in Yemen's capital Sana'a killing one of almost 10 people who were believed to be inside when the building fell down at 3:00 am at the police quarter.
However, four people were pulled out from under the rubble as the rescue operations are ongoing to pull out five others, believed to be of the building owner's family.
The rescued included the owner, a pilot in Yemen Air Force, and his eight-year old daughter and wife, director of the civil defense in the Secretariat Capital said.
Sources at the civil defense said the building collapsed because its owner continued to build more stories though his building was an old construction built from bricks.
The authorities had previously warned of its collapse, urging the owner not to build more stories over it, the sources made clear.
Furthermore, there were two mobile phone base station antennas over the building which might have been a reason for the tragedy, the sources added.
Earlier today, director of the civil defense Abdul Karim Al-Bukhaiti said forces from the Central Security, Rescue Police and Armed Forces as well as citizens rushed to help those who were inside when the building fell down.
