The Joint Meeting Parties, the opposition, did not discuss a call by the Ruling Party for dialogue at Saturday's meeting, because the coalition has not received an invitation to resume dialogue at all, the spokesman for the JMP said.
Muhammad Saleh Al-Qubati said what has been reported over dialogue between the Ruling Party and the opposition was just untrue reports.
We will continue peaceful struggle to condemn unilateral moves by the Ruling Party and to seek political change and comprehensive reforms, mainly those to improve standers of living and to fight unemployment and corruption, he said.
Spokesperson for the ruling party Tareq Al-Shami denied the JMP allegations and said, “It’s surprising that opposition denies receiving our invitation to dialogue while they received it. We will continue to call our brothers in the opposition to dialogue for the better of the country.”
Al-Shami added, “The JMP spokesperson does not know what is happening in the country, and that is why he denied they received our invitation for dialogue.”
The remarks refuted repots earlier today following a report by Yemen News Agency Saba that the General Committee of the Ruling Party discussed in its meeting Friday progress in the dialogue with the JMP. The meeting urged to continue dialogue under the committee of four formed by President Saleh, Saba reported.
The opposition rejects the dialogue with the Ruling Party in case the party insists on unilateral moves it has recently taken including the being-studied constitutional amendments under which Saleh may rule for a lifetime, said Al-Qubati.
More recently, the JMP has vowed to step up popular protest against the corrupt regime, organizing massive protests and rallies demanding reforms and condemning illegal acts by the Ruling Party.
