President Ali Abdullah Saleh ordered Thursday to arrest sheikh Sadiq Al-Ahmer whose supporters have been fighting the government forces in the capital Sana'a and his brothers, just as Al-Ahmer said he was ready to ceasefire if Saleh accepts to do so.
The website of the Defense Ministry reported that the Attorney General had issued an arrest warrant against Al-Ahmer, the sheikh of the most powerful tribal coalition in the country, and his brothers to try them on charges of armed rebellion.
Fierce clashes are continuing in Al-Hasaba area, where the tribal fighters seized several public offices in the last three days and are now besieging others including the Interior Ministry.
Dozens. Including civilians, have been killed and hundreds injured including 28 people, killed earlier today in a weapon storage explosion. The website said the Hashid tribes bombed the explosion site killing almost 28 and injuring many others.
Heavy weapons have been used in the battles, amid persistent blackouts and fears of the locals, many of whom have left to other provinces.
