A British expert was killed on Wednesday in Yemen's business capital Aden in an explosion that the authorities said bore the halmarks of Al-Qaeda.
A local security source said a bomb was put inside the car of David Tom, who worked as a marine surveyer through his office in Al-Mualla St, and was detonated when the foreigner left his office.
"The attack bore the halmarks of Al-Qaeda and an investigation is underway," the source said, as the army and popular armies continued to fight suspected Al-Qaeda militants in the southern province of Abyan.
Recenlty, Defense Minister said the authorities had imposed a security cordon around Aden to prevent the infiltration of terrorists as the unrest continued in most Yemeni provinces.
The minister's statement coincided with reports that Islamists had infiltrated into the port city coming from Abyan.
The murder of the British was unusual in south Yemen where Al-Qaeda has been targeting military and security commanders, personnel, offices and vehicles leaving tens dead and injured.
