Sana’a the Yemeni capital woke up this morning to scenes of utter chaos as people continued to flood hospitals throughout the city, wounded and in dear need of medical help.
Only last night as the Republican Guards and the Central Security Forces were conducting their assaults against the protesters at “Change Square”, doctors called on for other medical facilities to open their doors to the injured.
Residents near al-Zubeyri hospital told the Yemen Post that troops loyal to president Saleh were preventing anyone to enter the hospital, determined according to some, to let the death toll rise well beyond the reported 26 of last night.
This morning, the violence resumed in the area, as the government ordered his men to strike al-Zubeyri Street with RPGs, tanks and 50” caliber guns. Images of horrendous injuries were soon after being streamed by Suhail TV, a dissident channel belonging to Sheikh Hameed al-Ahmar, president Saleh main political detractor and younger brother to Sheikh Sadeeq al-Ahmar, the most powerful tribal Yemeni leader.
The Kentucky roundabout which is situated near the entrance of the Sana’a University is now under the control of defected General Mohsen al-Ahmar as the latter ordered his men last night to intervene in favor of the protesters. After hours of fierce streets battle, the General managed to regain control of the ground.
In Taiz, another revolutionary flashpoint, residents reported last night that Ahmed Saleh, the Head of the Republican Guards and the Saleh’s eldest son, ordered the Air Force to strike the city from the air, unleashing a level of destruction unprecedented.
In Aden, the government has cut out the electricity, leaving residents to suffer the 35 degree temperature. There as well, witnesses are reporting scenes of violence as government troops are using live ammunitions against the crowd gathered in solidarity to those fallen on Sana’a.
