Medical sources in Hodeidah reported 6 casualties, one of them a man in critical condition, after they were shot by snipers at anti-regime rally in the western city of Hodeidah, on Sunday evening.
Witnesses told the Yemen Post that snipers were hiding in buildings, opening fire onto protesters as they marched through the streets of Hodeidah, demanding the immediate departure of President Ali Abdullah Saleh.
Witnesses added that the snipers showered them by bullets as they shot from several places at once, injuring 6 demonstrators.
Medical sources also said that one of the wounded was now on a critical state, stressing that he would most certainly die.
Others were injured on their back and shoulders.
The Central Security Forces which were present at the demonstration idly stood by not doing anything.
Protesters eventually came face to face with thugs, throwing stones at them.
