The National Reconciliation Government in Yemen approved today the final draft of immunity law that give as Saleh and his aides immunity from any prosecution then submitted it to parliament for approval and ratification.
Informed sources said that the government approved the draft law on the guarantees as it included in the Gulf initiative that ensure smooth and peaceful transition of power in Yemen.
The Assistant Secretary General of the General People's Congress Party "GPC" Sultan al-Barakani had given the government one week to submit the immunity draft to the Parliament Council, and threatened to take firm action if delayed.
The official spokesman for the Joint Meeting Parties "JMP" Abdu Ghaleb al- Odaini revealed a disagreement between the JMP and GPC regarding the content of the draft law of immunity offered by President Ali Abdullah Saleh.
Al- Odaini said that the content made by President Ali Abdullah Saleh calls for providing immunity for crimes that had been committed and that will be committed in the future.
"It is important to re-draft the law of immunity according to the context of the National Reconciliation, as it will solve many national problems." Al- Odaini said.
He pointed that the immunity need to comply with the contents of the Gulf initiative and Security Council resolution No. 2014.
He also said that the JMP is studying the immunity draft law provided by the GPC and the JMP will submit another draft law.
Al- Odaini considered the GPC's accusations to the opposition as an excuse to dissociated itself from obligations of the Gulf initiative that call for implementing the presidential elections in the 21 of February.
He added that the JMP is committed since the first moment of the signing of the Gulf initiative to apply and works on the success of the early presidential elections as an important stage for the transition of Yemen from the stage of corruption and favoritism to the modern civil state.
