Immunity at the zero point

By Marwan al-Ghafoori

Saleh was granted the immunity, but he said he did not need it since he is protected from the people themselves, considering that he will leave power to spare the country the civil war. Saleh meant the war that is expected to erupt between the people and the Republican Guards; the Republican Guards that protect Saleh, and of course these forces are not the people.
Saleh! Who granted you immunity?

Days passed as it is habitual bringing Saleh’s turn to be the victim of breaching agreements. Saleh perfectly realize, at this moment, that the Immunity Law would mean nothing immediately after he loses his position, and after the Republican Guards become under the control of the new state. An odd agreement indeed; a group of parties signed this immunity law in a nonpartisan community, where real state has not existed yet, in favor of a killer involved to the brim in bloodshed. It is also –immunity law- to be approved by a parliament that has expired three times. Every document in the world hides its obscure gaps, except this document which gaps are “shamefully exposed”.

During the second half of the nineties, Islah Party Leaders were used to tell Saleh “you are one of the national fundamentals such as religion, language, science, territory and currency,” as such said the well-known educated Islah member Ahmed al-Qumairi. Members of Islah Party wanted to anesthetize Saleh while they spread smoothly in the fabric of the Yemeni society. But Saleh, who was brought up in a web of intrigues, would not be anesthetized. “He can do all tricks, but cannot run a booth of cigarettes,” said Abdul Rahman al-Akwa about Saleh when they once had bad relationships for a while.

Once again, Islah members came to make Saleh believe in the immunity. Saleh has no other way but to believe this illusion. High Commissioner of the United Nations said some days ago “this immunity is contrary to the International Law”. International Law experts said “this is a laughingstock.” The whole Yemeni people overwhelmingly said “this is a heavy joke in the wrong time.” While, on the other hand, Saleh said “for Allah’s sake, repeat this heavy joke again and again for nothing has left for me to hear.” Thus Saleh was surrounded by his sin.
Saleh had no other way but to clutch to this straw, since the other way he waved at, seemed too rugged. Saleh continued to spoil everything, not because he had a strike force, but because the people were “over tolerant,” because they were the people of wisdom, delay, reconciliation and kindhearted. Saleh exploited this moral badly, and forgot that human can neglect and respite, but can be bored as well. And this what has occurred.
But the Yemeni people, on the other hand, adopt what an Arab poet once said :

Let no one feign ignorance, tackling us
Lest we feign greater ignorance, tackling him
Some days ago, a nephew of one of Nehm Shieks (Nehm: an area north Sana’a witnessing an armed conflict), whose brother was killed in confrontations with the Republican Guards, told me “now we have the entire military supplies of six brigades.” This is just a simple example for other hundreds of ways Saleh waved at. If Saleh were able to go through this rugged way, he would have gone through it long time ago. We remember how he had, in a blink of an eye, let fire in cars tires in front of worshipers, in broad daylight. That was on “Friday of Dignity”; Saleh opened fire on the worshipers in a manner that has never happened before, killing 57 youths in half an hour, without having any sense of confusion.

Saleh was saying “I want to spare Yemen the civil war.” This time he was frank, and honest though he has always been a liar; about two months ago he said “we do not need a war, end of which no one knows.”. So, this is the reason Mr. Saleh! Because you do not know its end, you do not want it. Saleh has never hesitated to enter bloody adventures when he was confident of the end. But this war which he waved at, and avoided, could make an end to his descendants forever. Saleh clearly knows this, and he seemed totally a loss. Pitiful and disgusting you are, Oh creature.

Again: back to the immunity. America hesitated in allowing Saleh to enter the US, because the US administration “do not want headache”. The headache meant that the Immunity Law - legally- was full of holes (gaps), and winds comes from these holes making headache. Thus, Saleh would never reach New York; neither as a patience nor as a sound human. I do not remember that I have ever imagined Saleh as a sound man. Even when my friend, Yeser, reminded me of Muslims’ morals that respect covenants and charters, I told him “this could be correct when your enemy is a Muslim, Jewish, Christian, an atheist or of any other classification. But for a monster, there is no way of classifying him human.” Saleh is no more than “a bloody hand” wiping out all mankind.

KSA would allow Saleh to enter its land. They seemed very concerned about their south borders with Yemen, as stated in a message, published in Wiki leaks Website, sent by the US Ambassador in Riyadh to Hilary Clinton, ahead from its visit to KSA. With regard to the International Law, Saudi Arabia does not care much about it, since it is a State governed under Islamic Sharia. After Saleh have returned from Saudi Arabia to Yemen, he received a message from King of KSA, according to official media, saying that what Saudi Arabia has done for Saleh and his friends was mainly based on Islam Teachings. Of course, Islam teachings were not there when dozens of those injured during the revolution came back from the hospitals of Saudi Arabia “disappointed”.

Many of the Revolution Youth bet on the GCC Initiative and its operational mechanism, as well as the Immunity Law. This law is to be passed by the Yemeni Parliament that has lost its legitimacy for the thousand time, this parliament headed by Yahya al-Ra’ei, who appeared some days ago in a serious video instigating a group of murderers to shoot the protesters “stand in their way, kill them and the authority will settle the matter.” In front of a crowd of gunmen, Speaker of the parliament was biting his teeth when he used the verb “kill”. “I swear by Allah that if all people of Sana’a gathered to kill one person, I would kill all of them in return,” said Omar Bin Al-Khattab. This parliament is illegitimate from its first session, and since after the “rigged elections”, as described by its former speaker. . This parliament is expected to approve the Immunity Law for the tyrannical family on behalf of people, whom no more represented by it.

“GPC Hawks”; a term being circulated these days in the media. Basically, this is not an accurate description. The GPC is only an association of interests, in which a person’s voice could be loud or low according to the task given to him by the general manager of the association. Mohammed Naji al-Shaif, for instance, wanted to play the role of the bad man, by which they wanted to convey he was charged with the rash actions in order to “take away blames from the leadership.” Al-shaif issued frightful statements such as “announcing war against opposition”, but no one paid him any attention. This was, of course, sad for him and for the head of the association. This creature had once described the great thinker Aidrous al-Naqeeb as “mangy dog” in a parliament session in 2010. Al-Naqeeb did nothing but smiled, which also made that creature sad.

This association is besieged and its options are narrow-minded. Bare-chested Youth are the power of the revolution. Oh Saleh, we have nothing to do but the revolution. Even if it lasted for sixty years, we would go on the revolution until we retire.

Finally, yes for immunity law. As you taught us O Saleh in three decades, we promise you to be loyal pupils. We would breach immunity and get you back this time to "Writing Degree Zero" with our apology to Roland Barthes, God bless him.

Saleh would be granted immunity in a society, large proportion of, repeat "Unjust reconciliation better than filing suits for a year". Saleh wants to present immunity as filing suits for a year through parliament preparations and legal interpretations. However, Saleh's opponents, are bigger than to imagine, want unjust reconciliation, settlement of opponent against another one after the other side lose dead people as happened to the first side. This is the tradition path of Yemeni Community which Saleh described the later as "community of snakes". This mean phrase is stolen by Saleh from southern politician which was one of the stolen things from southerners, can never be counted.
