Yemeni Meteorological center warns of thunderstorms, floods The Yemeni National Center for Meteorology (NCM) warned of potential thunderstorms and floods on Saturday in fifteen out of the countries 22 provinces.In a statement released on Saturday, the NCM cautioned the citizens living in mountain and heights to take precautions against lighting, and surprise flow of floods in the slopes and valleys in the coming 48 hours.It has further predicted that torrential rains accompanied with thunderstorms and lighting will hit Saddah, Hajjah, Amran, al-Mahweet, Sana'a, Dhamar, Rayma, Ibb, Taiz and al-Biydha provinces, as well as some parts of al-Jawf, Marib, Shabwa, al-Dhale, and Lahj.However, the NCM ruled out the possibility of tsunami wave in the Yemeni coastal areas, which was previously predicted by Tsunami Pacific Warning Center.After the warning by the Tsunami Pacific Centers, the Yemeni people living in coastal areas were reported to have fled their homes in search for higher grounds. The warning triggered panic among the residents, whose fears were expelled and heaved a sigh of relief when they heard the NCM statement today.
