Yemeni President Abdu Rabu Mansour Hadi ordered the army units in the southern province of Abyan to storm Zinjubar, the provincial capital, and Ja'ar, the al-Qaeda stronghold, in an effort to dislodge the militants from their areas of influence, familiar sources said.The sources said that Hadi gave his orders to the army troops in Abyan to start a comprehensive campaign to retake control of the captured towns and push the elements out of them.The sources revealed that carrying intensive airstrikes have been planned in order to neutralize al-Qaeda snipers who are positioned in areas close to the troops' sites and help significantly in slowing down the military operations. The government has stepped up the security measures in guarding the government officials and army commanders after intelligence received information indicating that the terrorists are planning to target government, army, and security officials.Meanwhile, military armored vehicles were deployed in the central part of the capital to prevent riots caused by former President's supporters recently in al-Tahrir area.The threat of al-Qaeda in Yemen has heightened, especially after the terror network carried out suicide attacks in Sana'a and other provinces that left more than 150 people killed in less than a week.
