In cooperation with two other charity organizations, the United Arab Emirates Red Crescent Authority (UAERCA) is going to launch a campaign to raise donations from the Emirati people for their brothers in Yemen who suffer from a devastating humanitarian crisis heightened by the protracted political crisis and unrest.

The campaign is going to last three days starting from this Friday and it aims to alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people. Recent studies by international humanitarian organizations recently showed that more than 5 million Yemenis suffer from food insecurity and need urgent humanitarian aid.

The UAERCA coordinated with the various UAE media outlets which will shed light on the Yemeni humanitarian crisis, a move intended to ensure the success of the campaign.

The campaign came in response to the harsh humanitarian crisis hitting Yemen and it’s a part of showing the Emirati people's solidarity with their brothers in Yemen who suffer from food insecurity and high pricing, the official Emirati news agency (Wam) said.

It added that the campaign aims to draw the attention to the humanitarian crisis in Yemen and its repercussions and ill-effects on the most vulnerable groups of the community.

UAERCA deployed representatives in more than 167 locations across the Emirates to receive the donations and promised that donations will go directly to the beneficiaries throughout the provinces of Yemen, said Wam.

It called on all the Emiratis to take part in the campaign and donate in order to offset the suffering of the Yemeni people from food shortages and food insecurity.

In the coming two days, a team of the UAERCA is going to arrive to Yemen in order to lead the relief operations and supervise the distribution of the aid to the needy people across the provinces of Yemen.

The campaign followed up his Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan grant of 500 million UAE Dirham as food aid in Yemen.
