A high-ranking security official, Abdullah Al-Mawzai, was killed on Thursday in Aden as a bomb was put on his vehicle.
According to the military-run 26 Newspaper, unidentified persons put the bomb on his car and it was detonated as he was heading to his job.
It further said that Al-Mawzai was subjected to assassination attempts previously, but he escaped them miraculously.
Security sources said that saboteurs attacked the headquarter of Aden governorate, using three grenades , pointing out that one of the attacker was seriously wounded as security forces responded to them.
The capital Sana'a along with some Yemeni main cities witness a state of loose security as suicide bombings and target of military locations increased during the few past months.
The Yemeni army could defeat Al-Qaeda in its main strongholds in Zinjibar, Jaar and Shaqra of Abyan governorate and help large numbers of the displaced persons to return to their homes. However, Al-Qaeda carried a number of suicide bombings and could assassinate high-ranking commander of the Yemeni army, and killed and wounded hundreds of soldiers in Sana'a alone. Al-Qaeda assassinated in late June Salem Qatan, commander of the Southern Region, after he left his home in the southern port city of Aden in a suicide attack.
After a year of pro-democracy protests outbreak that swept the country and after formation of an interim government, some Yemeni governorates witness loose security as crimes and weapon carrying increase.
Yemeni analysts called the government to impose prestige of the state, hold the former officials who spark troubles accountable.
