Al-Qaeda militants move freely in some areas of Abyan though the Yemeni army declared one month ago that it could dislodge Abyan of them, the London-based Al-Sharaq Al-Awsat Newspaper said on Sunday.
Local sources affirmed that Al-Qaeda militants roam in Al-Mahafad, Dathinah, and mountains of Dhaikah in Abyan, pointing out that the Saudi diplomat, Abdullah al-Khalidi, might be held in these mountains.
The sources cited that some areas of Abyan are completely controlled by local resistance committees that back the Yemeni army.Meanwhile, some Abyan refugees who displaced to Aden said the Yemeni authorities strongly seek to return them to their villages, pointing out that their areas still lack to essential services and that some areas are still full of landmines.
Meanwhile, bombing of explosives remarkably increased in Yemeni cities. An explosive killed a child Saturday in Sana'a and another person was killed in Sana'a last week in a similar event.
The Interior Ministry stated on Saturday that it could defuse two suitcases bombs that were put near to a hotel in Al-Muala neighborhood in Aden.
According to the ministry, masked persons put the bomb, and the hotel administration informed police stations that prompted to defuse them.
Security services defused last week in Aden two high-explosive bombs after they were thrown nearby the Political Security ( an intelligence service.)
A number of Yemeni intelligence officers were assassinated during the two past months in Sana'a, Hadhramout and Aden.
The Yemeni authorities accuse al-Qaeda of standing behind the assassination and plantation of explosives in Some Yemeni cities after it was defeated in Abyan.
