Commander of the First Armored Division Ali Mohsin Al-Ahmar has praised decrees issued by President Abdu Rabo Mansour Hadi Tuesday in which he transferred the command of several brigades of the Republican Guard and the First Armored Division to the new Presidential Protection Force.
Other brigades of the First Armored Division and the Republican Guard, commanded by former President Ali Abdullah Saleh's son Ahmed, were placed under different central and southern military regions.
In a statement released hours after the declaration of Hadi's decrees, he confirmed his support to the new decisions, describing them as bold and that they in the favor of Yemen.
"These decisions pave the way to reconstruct the army according to national and scientific perspectives in light of modern military systems" Al-Ahmar who defected from the army added.
He expressed readiness to accept any decisions that are issued by Hadi, indicating that Hadi's decrees would eunite units, restore discipline within the army and create suitable conditions to restructure the military.
Meanwhile, Ahmed Ali has not commented on the recent decrees amid expectations that he will refuse Hadi's decisions.
Hadi's previous decisions were refused by relatives of Saleh, and they lately accepted the fire dismissing after the coming of the UN envoy to Yemen Jamal Binomar who threatened them with UN sanctions.
The former commander of the Air Forces Gen Mohammed Saleh al-Ahmar and the former commander of the 3rd Brigade Tariq Mohammad Abdullah Saleh refused for several weeks to accept their dismissal.
