A Qatari mediation failed to persuade Ali Salem al-Beidh to participate in the national dialogue conference that will be held in next November, diplomatic sources in Sana'a said.
The sources told al-Khaleej Newspaper that the mediation was carried out by Emir of Qatar Hamad Bin Khalifa Al- Thani, affirming that al-Beidh was insistent on his stances of secession.
Al-Beidh visited last week Doha, expressing his insistence on continuing "peaceful struggle" to separate South Yemen.
Meanwhile, Al-Thani expressed desire to host the former Yemeni president Ali Abdullah Saleh and pay costs of his residency in Qatar.
Saudi Arabia offered Yemen to host the sessions of the dialogue conference, al-Khaleej said.
A senior leader of the Southern Movement Ahmed al-Hassani has called for independence of the dialogue and South's self-decision.
Rallies were arranged in some southern cities during the past days and demanded the independence of the southern state.
It is worth reclaiming that there is another faction in the South that demands for federalism.
Senior leaders of the Southern Movement have recently affirmed their acceptances of participation in the national dialogue conference, but the former president of South Yemen Ali Salem Al-Beidh still refuses participation, southern sources told Al-Quds Al-Arabi.
Many challenges are currently facing holding the national dialogue with some political sides putting preconditions for their participation in the meeting.
Yemeni officials affirm that the dialogue will be held without ceiling or pre-conditions, hinting that the southern case will be the more important issue on the table
