President Abdu Rabo Mansour Hadi dismissed a nephew of the former president Ali Abdullah Saleh, Tayseer Saleh, as a military attaché in Washington and appointed a new one, Mohammed Ibrahim.
A Yemeni newspaper, Al-Shara'a said that Ibrahim is a retired general from Abyan governorate, pointing out that he could not accompany Hadi as his travel documents were not completed.
It further cited that Ibrahim received a US visa on Sunday, affirming that he will arrive to the United States before Hadi in order to prepare for his welcome.
Hadi left Yemen on Sunday in a trip that includes the United Kingdom, the United States, Germany and France.
It is set that Hadi will attend the meeting of Friends of Yemen that will take place in New York on September 27.
Well-informed sources said Hadi will take part in the annual meeting of the of the General Assembly of the United Nations in New York, affirming that he will deliver a speech about updates of Yemen's situations and efforts of the political settlement.
He will hold talks with US officials about mutual cooperation and efforts of counterterrorism, the sources added.
The US has increased its aid to Yemen to $337 million so far this year, the biggest aid sum in the bilateral relations between the two countries.
On Monday, Hadi held intensive meetings with British officials in which they discussed mutual relations and how to enhance cooperation.
