The Yemeni Federation to Develop the Poorest Groups, the national conference of the marginalized, demanded on Monday the government to include their representatives in the technical committee on preparation for dialogue.
They stressed the importance to treat them like other forces and that a presidential decree is issued to include them in the committee, spokesmen for the marginalized said in a news conference.
"We voted for the new President, Abdrabu Mansour Hadi, and now we demand him to issue a decree to include us in the committee with the aim to meet our aspirations and support our cause," one of the spokesmen told the Yemen Post.
"The absence of the marginalized people in the committee is a flagrant violation of their rights ensured by the Yemeni constitution and an obvious breach of the power-transfer deal," he said, calling on the sponsors of the deal topped by the UN and the GCC to provide all support to enable the marginalized to participate in the political process in their country.
They criticized the political forces claiming they went around the transition deal that called for including all Yemeni groups without exceptions…. including the marginalized… in all the phases of the political settlement.
At the conference, outlets were distributed that said the marginalized people account for 12% of Yemen's population…about 3 million, most of whom are illiterate and live under the poverty line.
The technical committee has lately failed to hold successful meetings because the majority of its members have been absent in protest against reshaping it.
President Hadi issued last week a decree replacing some members of the committee after some factions said there was not equal representation of all the concerned factions.
A comprehensive national dialogue conference is scheduled to be held in early November under the power-transfer deal, which was brokered by the GCC and backed by the West after the 2011 unrest.
